An ABF Supporters Visit to Bloodhound

Camp Location July 2010

50 ABF supporters were shown round the old Bloodhound camp location, which has had an impressive face-lift since it became the British Forces main base for decompression prior to them returning to the UK. Troops leaving Iraq and Afganhistan stop off in Cyprus for about 36 hours for a winding-down session, during which they can enjoy water sports activities and a wide choice of leisure facilities including a mobile cinema, plenty of cold drinks, airconditioned barrack rooms, internet and wifi centres and they are entertained by a light comedy show.

Before each brigade passes through, a Decompression Support team of about 20 soldiers comes out from the UK to host their units and the ABF provide these teams with smart polo shirts bearing our logo. At the height of the Iraq campaign, 20,000 soldiers per year were passing through this unique decompression system.
